I like the look of the new hag headstock, but you're right about the rest. Nasty blue, and not enough knobs for a real hag look.____I'm also liking the look of Jamie's new guitar - he got a black, lefty viking, nice take on the LP design without looking like a cheap clone.
Jamie's is a Swede, but yeah, when I tried a bunch of these new Hags in Germany last year I was only impressed by this really cheap strat clone and the Swede (there's a superswede which is 25 1/2" scale that's also probably great). Didn't much care for playablity of the good-looking SG-style with 2 P90s or the new Viking, but in these cases that was down to too much paint and cheap pickups.
Bah. Swede, viking; same thing, give or take a helmet with horns....
So howdit turn out? I'm thinking of getting an F300 and changing the pickups for fenders... how are the gfs? :)
This is how it turned out:

Pretty well. Was ages ago this. I did like the gfs strat pickups, but ultimately the guitar still felt insubstantial and I couldn't get on with a strat, even in Hagstrom form.
i have the same 64 hag3 it's unbeatable
Bought my 1st electric guitar, a Hag lll,in 65, when I was 12. They don't make anything now, that feels as good and solid as the Hag lll did back then. Not even the Fender Jag, had all of the sound variables as the Hag ! And no other guitar had a neck as fast as the Hag ! I had that blue one in the picture, and would like to have it ! Call me if one like it can be had by me, with everything working and pretty !
