Transmission - Beyond Light

If by “light” they mean “boredom,” then yes, this is way beyond. But there's no way that, in the English language or any other, anyone would classify this instrumental ode to tedium as significant. It's never a good sign when, convinced that this album must have ended, you turned to the song list to find that there are still 6 left. And they're all about 7 minutes long. It becomes a sort of existential despair. Camus would love these guys.

What's even more disappointing is the pedigree involved- Beyond Light comes from the boys behind Deadzone, Killing Joke, and session players for Gorillaz and the Verve. What went wrong? We'll never know, I suppose, but turgid numbers like “Bella Roa” and “Star Stella” offer some pretty compelling theories.
