Danny Fontaine & The Horns of Fury - Murder Suite EP

Is it true that they only come out at night? Do they really drink the blood of the regulars? Whatever you've heard, prepare for all your fears to be realised. Danny Fontaine and The Horns of Fury are here to take no prisoners, and they rock stylishly while doing so. A strange subject, Mr. Fontaine lays his shaky vocals over an aural landscape painted by clamorous guitars, funky brass and theatrical percussion, mixing this odd elixir of Queen, Space and The Clash with a fiery fervor and determined moxie.

Not as melodic as one would imagine, 'Murder Suite' is quite unsettling, yet retains that impish curiosity that their daft name and promo photos imply. Yes, this is a farce and we all know it, but why can't any fun be had in the business anymore? That's where Fontaine and his coterie of mental musical monkeys come in. Energetic it may be, but well produced it certainly isn't - in fact the production is rather awful, and quite obviously, brass and treble don't mix - but don't let that dissuade you from enjoying what Danny Fontaine and the Horns of Fury have to offer. Frankly, it's a tad on the strident side for my tastes, but if you can see beyond the hideously off-key vocal harmonies of “Dark Came Down” or the frightfully deprecating recitation of Darth Vader's tyrannical theme music in “Broken Man”, you might find a method behind this rather peculiar madness
