Beatnic Prestige - Beatnic Prestige EP

Boisterous rock from Scottish four-piece Beatnic Prestige suffers from too many similarities to bands you can't quite remember. This four-track EP has a shimmering production sheen, a nice, well-designed glossy case and it's energetically performed and the band occasionally craft a nice little lyric, but it's one of those situations where it sounds so much like so many other bands that are around at the moment, but, worse than that, I can't even remember the names of the bands it sounds like.

It generally has a Northern pop-rock sound with some similarities to usual sound-a-like staple Arctic Monkeys, and on slower track Charlie Brown there's the air of Half The World Away Oasis and a hint of The Coral, though generally it's shot through with a touch of the Paul Weller. There's nothing shockingly awful about this record, it's just dissapointingly fine.
