Pocket Promise - I Burnt The Roller Disco
Owain Paciuszko 04/04/2009
Rating: 3/5
Following on from their debut ep Waving At Strangers comes this alt-rock single very much in the vein of Soulwax via Franz Ferdinand but sporting a Northern Irish accent. Armed with a pretty darn catchy chorus and a nice line in riffage, this is an appealing and fun little single that bodes extremely well for their upcoming debut album. B-Side The Sum of the Parts is a more laidback affair that glides from melodic refrain into spiky, jittering indie-pop in a similar suit to early Nada Surf.
An enticing little release from Pocket Promise that means I'll be curious to see how a full LP holds together.
