The Echo Session - Tell Me

Having been gigging for a few years Scotland's 'best kept secret' (thanks press release) are putting out their first recorded material, leading the way is this two and a half minute single Tell Me which brings to mind the chirpy grumbles of Dead End Street-era The Kinks via such recent melody-pop favourites as The Coral and, vastly underrated ex-band, Mohair.

'Tell me what you've done with all the money that I've saved' goes the chorus, clearly this is a contemporary tune and balances its 'message' with a buoyant banjo line, acoustic guitar and The Beatles-like backing vocals. It's a damn fine single and sets the bar high for the band's imminent 2010 debut album, but, by the same token, it's hard to really get an overview of the band from this one - albeit good - track. However, The Echo Session may well be making a big noise come New Year.
