The Black Acid Band - Wunji the Destroyer
Owain Paciuszko 19/03/2010
Rating: 4/5
Midlands four piece release this two track CD that clocks in at a grand total of three minutes and twenty six seconds of raucous, entertaining rock noise. First track Wunji the Destroyer showcases the bands influences are built upon off-the-wall seventies rock, and Idriss Mead's vocal is arch and wry, snidely springboarding off of Andy Teece's crunching lead riff.
Meanwhile Spanner & Ratchet has deliciously fuzzy bass and occasional scratches, like a CD skip, emphasising the lyrics. It's erratic and ramshackle in a perfectly well formed way.
This is a brief but enjoyable little pairing, that bodes well for The Black Acid Band as purveyors of quick jabs of frenetic rock and roll. The only real detriment here being that it's such a short introduction I can't really think of much more to say other than, it's good, listen to it!
