Pillo - Demo

Someone else said this a while ago, but we honestly do want to like or even love every single demo that comes our way. It would be fantastic if all the unsigned, new bands that send in CD's took our breath away and had us panting and gasping at their brilliance. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen too often. More typically we get things like Pillo to erm... "enjoy". The acoustic Indie/Soul Pop on this demo is so average, even more average than someone called John Smith who works at an "office", drives a Ford Focus and has two children and a semi-detached 3 bedroomed house on a new housing development. I suppose the mix of strumming and strings and general atmospheric effects on 'Silence Between Us' and 'Dream Drowning' and 'Radio Waves' is influenced by Jeff Buckley, but well, where Buckley was hairs on the back of the neck thrilling, Pillo are mind numbingly dull. These songs do make the listener work hard however - it takes a gargantuan effort not to nod off.
