It's new!, it's fun!, it's Los Campesinos! This flourishing seven piece band from Cardiff have delivered four perfect indie-pop-twee (whatever you want to call it, I call it fun) tracks, which are available on their myspace site. 'You! Me! Dancing!' is apparently their anthem, based on their local indie-club (Twisted By Design) it shows the perfect balance between their influences, it's cloying, but thankfully not too twee.
'Track 1' (working title) should have a title, why? Because it's a really good song, too good to fall into anonymousness.

'It Started With A Mix' is a song about Mix Tapes, and even though it sounds a bit like 'Naive Melody' by Talking Heads, once you listen to the wonderfully crafted lyrics you forget about it. What could be more Indie than Mix Tapes? Answers on an e-postcard.

'Sweet Dreams, Sweet Cheeks' is the icing on the cake, extremely catchy, with a beautiful string accompaniment and the farewell verse that goes, "one blink for "yes" two blinks for "no", sweet dreams sweet cheeks we leave alone.."

Expect to find: Catchy tunes; sounds that remind of Broken Social Scene, B.C. Camplight, Pavement, Sonic Youth and Talking Heads - therefore more American indie than British indie. Clever and colourful lyrics (yes finally!); post-rock intros; a healthy and balanced dose of saccharine, and especially: lots of fun!

Fact: there's an obscure Peruvian Folk band with the same name, they even have their own statue, see?

Hopefully (and if the world is fair and still has ears) the Welsh Campesinos will also have a statue of their own soon.
