Idlewild - No Emotion

Bill Cummings 25/01/2007

'No Emotion' is the brand new single from Idlewild released on 26th February 2007, taken from the band's sixth album 'Make Another World' released a week later on their new label Sequel. After a quick trip to Japan at the start of March, they then head on an 11 date UK tour.Watch the new video here:

'Make Another World' was recorded last year in Edinburgh with producer Dave Eringa, who the band worked with on some of their earlier recordings including '100 Broken Windows' and 'The Remote Part'. The new album was previewed with a limited edition single 'If It Takes You Home' in December '06 to coincide with a short sold out club tour to give fans a taster of the new record. Described in the NME as a 'virulent gut-punch of a comeback …a Pixies-flecked ramalama rock blastathon' the track reminded people of the harder, rockier side of the band not so prevalent on 2005's 'Warnings/Promises' album but certainly familiar to anybody with a knowledge of the bands full catalogue.

Idlewild, who consist of Roddy Woomble (vocals), Rod Jones (guitar), Allan Stewart (guitar) Gareth Russell (bass) and Colin Newton (drums) will also be playing in Glasgow at the end of January as part of the Celtic Connections festival. Another project vocalist Roddy is involved with is 'Ballads of the Book' - an 18 track album which brings together Scotland's writing community with a diverse range of new and established recording artists. Idlewild wrote with celebrated poet Edwin Morgan for a track on 'The Remote Part' and after the release of his fantastically received solo album 'My Secret Is My Silence' last year, Roddy set to work on 'Ballads …'. Artists such as Sons & Daughters, Norman Blake and the Trashcan Sinatra's have tied up with the likes of A L Kennedy, Ian Rankin and Michael Faber to produce a unique and ambitious piece of work, due out in March 2007.
