Artery, The Oscillation, Cristine, Table Manners, Jarvis Cocker - Reformed Post-Punk band Artery play Chamber

Bill Cummings 14/09/2009

Post-Punk heroes Artery reformed in 2007 at the request of Jarvis Cocker for his curated Meltdown Festival in 2007 commenting about his early experiences seeing the band “it was one of the most important concerts of my life… I'd never seen anything like it before; this wasn't a concert - it was a ritual, a summoning of primal energies, a trip - all the things I'd hoped music could be. And then some.”

Artery are one of the great lost bands of the post-punk era. They were widely acknowledged to be Sheffield's answer to Joy Division. Regularly championed by the likes of Jarvis Cocker of Pulp as the steel city's finest export.

Their 4 Albums between 1979 and 1985 defined the era and now they are back with a new EP 'Standing Still' and playing at the intimate surroundings of The Legion in London for club night Chamber( in association with www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk ) on Sunday 20th September 2009.

"We finished the week of the Meltdown gig with a BBC6 radio session and drove back to Sheffield, and planned to meet on the Sunday to watch the Meltdown footage. We all knew we'd knocked the lid off the box really, and decided we'd do another show in Sheffield, and it just snowballed from there. One gig became two and then the offer of another London show that year kind of cemented us back together" Murray Fenton (guitar/Vocals)

With new material in the pipeline the band have taken a new lease of life.

They will be playing with The Oscillation + Cristine + Table Manners.
