Festival season is well under way, how do we know? Well you could say its because the festivals have begun OR its due to a sight glimmer of sun has brought every beer swilling moron out of the woodwork. It's good to be out. Just as you have your choice of 3 day tent dwelling tomfoolery there is also the budget option which is the one day events which means we can all hurry back to our own beds or leafy ditch of your choice.

I'm whittling on about ParkLife festival taking place on Saturday 12th June in Platt Fields park Fallowfield. Crossing over countless genres and artist profiles ParkLife is Manchester's current incarnation of D - Percussion and Mad Ferret style festival which is welcomed by Student/Mancunian alike. So with ticket in pocket and a can of warm cider it's time to put together a colour coded glitter clad timetable with unicorns or just wonder around listening out for some promising bleeps and squeals. But what should you be checking out if you fancy leaving the stationary behind?

Erol Alkan - Remixer giant headlines the Big Top and expect to be picked off your feet by his array of sounds and his skill at which he masters his craft.

Friendly Fires - Following the success of their debut album FF are now one of Britain's best bands so check them out on the Main Stage.

Various DJ sets from the likes of Calvin Harris and Simian Mobile Disco also continue to add the festivals increasing dance and party atmosphere.

Now Wave - Not a band, but an entire stage of up and coming music, think BBC Introducing but with sincerity. Check out the ENTIRE stage, for the likes of Errors, We Have Band and Kele doing the festival rounds. Also local talent from May 68 and Egyptian Hip Hop make ParkLife the best all day festival since erm records began?

Also check out the various tea rooms, fetes and fairground rides which take this festival beyond music and sandals.

So if the sun has brought out the sandals, straw trilby and that unnerving compulsion to carry around an acoustic guitar or you are a student scrabbling around under ancient take-away boxes, bear cans and in rare cases phone boxes in order to sniff out the last few coppers then ParkLife is going to tick countless boxes for all demographics.
