Dizzee Rascal, Roxy Music, Grace Jones, The Fall, These New Puritans - Lovebox Weekender/Field Day: A Victoria Parkstravaganza!

Get it up you, inner-city festival fans! Later this month, London's Victoria Park will once again play host to not one, but two alternative music festivals right in the far east of Britain's sweaty, stinking capital. Hooray!

Lovebox, which sounds a too bit rude for my liking (or UNLIKING, as the case may be), may boast of the fact it's based just off "London's most creative and socially dynamic quarters": Shoreditch, but don't let that put you off. I'm sure it won't just attract scrotefaces. You're going, for a start, right!

The UK's undisputed number one Party Boy Dizzee Rascal will headline Saturday, no doubt playing his recent bonanza of cheesy bouncathon hits, and maybe (please) all his other big hits from before "Dirtee Disco" really overcooked his line in gurning, #1 happy dance choons.

Also playing Lovebox include Bombay Bicycle Club, Roxy Music, Hot Chip and Grace Jones, who I think is like a more furious, touched old lady version of Beyonce. Should be a larf. The Maccabees, Mark Ronson and I Blame Coco also play, and organisers promise "a space to enjoy the music to enhance mood, provoke thought and challenge expectations". Did I mention it's in Shoreditch? Be still my beating heart. Lovebox takes place from the 16th - 18th of July.

However, arguably the pick of the park's larks is Field Day, an annual one-day indie freakout held on the 31st of July. This year's outdoor entertainment comes from Eyptian Hip Hop, No Age, These New Puritans, Archie Bronson Outfit, Hoxton's forlorn cowboy Lightspeed Champion, bands of the moment Yuck and Esben and the Witch, plus low-fi nutter army The Fall, featuring, as forever, music's very own Charles Bukowski, Mark E. Smith.

Field Day also features a "village green area", where you can get totally bloody bonkers wacky by getting stuck into a Coconut Shy, Tug of War, Real Ale tent, or Ping Pong tournament hosted by a Young Offenders Institute. Wow. Bad to Have a Bad Uncle, indeed.

These are two bonzer festivals you don't want to miss. Go on and get your ticket now! And if you haven't already got one, get one! Come on the Parks!
