Pixies - The Happening

Eve: This song starts sexyangry and then becomes very dreamy which I think that the pixies are particularly great at (if it's 'The Happening'. If it's 'The Thing' then it's simply dreamy which is great as well).

Morrissey - Bengali in Platforms

Basith: Uncle Morrissey giving me some useful advice, innit.

Black Flag - TV Party

Jeremy: “Why go into the outside world at all?”

The Concretes - You Can't Hurry Love

Simon: Probably the greatest song ever written. It's sweet, to the point and the reason we HAVE to have a female singer in Ace Bushy.

Cristina - When U Were Mine

E: This is maybe my favourite Prince song and Cristina is a lass who I first heard on the Ze Records Christmas album of my Dad's, singing a song that goes "we couldn't afford a tree so we decorated the cactus with earrings I was going to pawn", or something like that, so clearly she's good at her own songs too. About a million people have covered this but I love it more when it was hers.

Neutral Milk Hotel - Two Headed Boy

B: Cause of that hooky bit at the start with that drop where he sings "...bouuyyy", then the rest of it with the words and the chords.

Brand New - Seventy Times 7

J: Is there anything quite as beautiful as a pained Jesse Lacey soliloquy?

Mission Of Burma - Dumbells

S:...

Belly - Now They'll Sleep

E: "Do do-n do DO!"

Sonic Youth - Shadow Of A Doubt

B: Plucky muted guitars, single note damped piano, fantasising about kissing someone and killing their partner are things I like about this song.

Mclusky - Kkkitchens, What Were You Thinking?

J: We covered this once in a kitchen gig with our friends Les Editions De Minuit. No-one got it I think but it was good fun for sure. Mclusky and Future Of The Left shows used to and still do blow my mind.

The Walkmen - The Rat

S: Like lad rock but with real soul. Really looking forward to their new album, they were great at Pavement ATP but yeah The Rat is so so good, everything about it is just perfect.

Shangri-las - Maybe

E: It's REALLY fun to sing in the car SUPER LOUD and see people think you're mental.

Meneguar - Thousand Actors

B: Full of good bits everywhere all of the time, like that alternatey bit at the start and that shouty bit and then that mellow twiddleness in the second half.

Miss Black America - Beautiful Velocity

J: Seymour Glass sound-tracked my 16-19s. I dig his beautiful velocity.
