The Fountain

The Fountain is a love story that spans three separate narratives that intertwine in a poetic manner. Darren Aronofsky's use of the camera in a repetitive manner is reminiscent of 2001, and in its constant movement keeps a constant pace. The frame is saturated with breathtaking tones and colour, and the golden hues are almost ethereal. The representation of space is something never seen before, using digital macrophotography to capture biocultures emulating a space environment.

Only Aronofsky would think of such a thing. The soundscape that adorns these dizzying visuals that are visually arresting help keep this intent pace as does Jackman who is astutely driven as the partner seeking for almost impossible cure, shunning technology for the cure, but by seeking to extend his wife's life, he is absent for the remainder of her How poetic. Flummoxly brilliant.
