Harmacy - Carla's Song

Harmacy share a name with a rather superb Sebadoh album - perhaps not by accident as 'Carla's Song' is vintage stoner indie of the early 90s Pavement/Sebadoh type, more California than Bradford (the latter being their hometown). It's infused with pop sensibility, though, and is pretty polished, despite less than sensational production. There's not a whole lot to be said about it - it's decent but not astounding, as is B-side 'Dead Letter Day', which is all chiming clean guitars. There seems to be a sense of humour with which all this is done, but all in all it's behind its time somewhat next to a band like Broken Social Scene, taking the Pavement sound and exploding it into collage freakery. Competently executed, but nothing to write home about.
