Girl, I Wanna Lay You Down is the latest single by everyone's (no-one's?) favourite surfsongwriter Jack Johnson. Right? Erm, actually, this is by Animal Liberation Orchestra. Are you sure? I mean, it sounds an awful lot like J.J: laid-back vibes that sound ok once or twice but grate very quickly. It's released on the record labe l he set up AND he features on the title track here. But it's not his single? O-kay.

Phew, glad that's cleared up. Girl, I Wanna Lay You Down is allriiiight I suppose, but has some pretty cringemaking lyrics. If I were serenaded with these words it would end badly. A request to “turn out the lights, bring out the candles, wrap your arms around my love handles” would be swiftly declined. B-side numero uno Barbeque is a little too much like the theme music to kids' cartoon Doug for my liking (as if ALO could better a classic sound) and again it's the lyrics which really drive me up the wall: “Pig out at your barbeque, where we roast all the dreams that never came true”. No thanks, guys. Another song is on the CD single, and there's a video as well, but I've reached my saturation point. No more. Geez, two Jack Johnson's in the world. You need to ask yourself one question: why?
