Nerina Pallot - Sophia

Following on the back of a recent sold-out headline tour, including an appearance at this years V festival, Nerina Pallot releases a re-recorded version of 'Sophia', taken from the massively successful Fires LP released earlier this year.

Reminiscent of fellow songstress Dido, Pallot's delicate vocal style takes precedence over a luscious backdrop and is able to convey the varied influences that infiltrate some of her most popular works, with touches of folk, country and even some elements of her classical training shining though at times.

'Sophia' is another example of her charming song writing; uplifting melodies matched with mature lyrics and satisfying pop hooks that meld together for a pleasurable listen on the whole, if slightly unexciting.

Nerina Pallot could now be set to reach the same level of success as other such post-Coldplay acts, although she does face some already fierce competition this year from the likes of Paolo Nutini, Sandi Thom and James Morrison all vying for the attention of the Radio 2 crowd (this potential audience only averaging one new record a year). Given the right exposure, this single could be instrumental turning her into a major success.
