Queens of the Stone Age - In My Head

Following Nick Olivieri's firing (now known to be due to his physical abuse towards his girlfriend, and so more understandable), QOTSA have nevertheless sounded undeniably more lacklustre than previously. While In My Head isn't their best, it is a solid effort with all the right ingredients: driving riff and memorable, slightly anguished chorus with an unpredictable chord progression, very much in the vein of 'Go With The Flow'. Nevertheless, the sound seems somewhat muted and it's a bit workaday. It's no Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret, or No-One Knows. Originally a track from singer Josh Homme's 'Desert Sessions' side project, it perhaps sounded more interesting in a different context and under a less typical arrangement. Horrible artwork too, like some sort of metal parody.
