Guillemots - Annie, Let’s Not Wait

Rating: 4/5

Guillemots have made life difficult for themselves. Well received releases in 2006, including 'Made up Lovesong#43', 'Trains to Brazil' and 'We're Here' must have resulted in a pressure to follow up, with an equally popular track. Well never fear, because Fyfe Dangerfield is here, along with co-producer Adam Noble and they have definitely come up with the goods on their fourth release 'Annie Let's Not Wait'

The Guillemots sound rests somewhere avant-garde pop and indie, there's also a certain level of eclecticism within this single. Quirky lyrics and Fyfe's incredible soaring voice do not disappoint, and the background gospel tinged vocals of the Guillemettes' ensure you are kept listening right until the gloriously carnival sounding chaotic end. There is something unashamedly romantic within the Guillemots music and this single is equally joyous and happy. A catchy chorus and a danceable beat are the final components of a song that will increase your spirits and take away some of those post Christmas blues. Taken from their Mercury nominated album 'Through the Windowpane', 'Annie, Lets Not Wait' is bound to do well, and with an upcoming U.K tour in February, it seems that Guillemots have the momentum to take 2007 by storm.
