David Ford - Go To Hell

Rating: 4.5/5

It's fair to say that David Ford is an artist that the masses have not heard yet, I'm not ashamed to say I hadn't. He has certainly found a market in more than one country already though, with is last album, “'I Sincerely Apologise For All the Trouble I've Caused” receiving acclaim in the UK before being released on Columbia Records in the USA. According to his own website “critics have repeatedly used Ford as a club with which to batter the hugely popular James Blunt.”, which is perhaps the best metaphor I have ever heard.

During 2006 Ford toured the US, UK, Canada and Australia. The album even made the best of 2006 lists in The LA Times, The Sunday Times and The New York Post.

Boasting stunning violin and cello arrangements, “Go to Hell” is the opening single off his new album “Songs For The Road,”. Immensely powerful and heartfelt from the off, and encompassing his trademark bare emotional style, it builds both musically and lyrically, with increasingly acerbic verses that match the sharp upturn in percussion and tempo. If this single is anything to go by, the album will be truly special, and hopefully help propel him more into the spotlight he deserves.

“Go to Hell” is out now with the album “Songs For The Road” due to follow on August 6th (Download) with the physical release likely in October.
