Biffy Clyro - Machines

Rating: 4/5

Events so far this year have sent Biffy Clyro's expectations for the future rocketing to new heights. With more high profile support act slots than could have ever been imagined considering their previous successes, including time spent with aging rockers The Who, The Rolling Stones and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. On a reflective note, the band now release 'Machines' which as any avid Biffy Clyro fan will know, is the closing track to their critically acclaimed album 'Puzzle'. The song sees itself reworked here offering an alternative version for those die-hard fans to savour.

Following the now alternative line to supplying less heavy and experimental tracks to more melodic, commercially viable and widely accessible tracks, 'Machines' blends a mixture of interwoven guitar riffs, subtle bass lines and drums against the superbly emotive vocals of Fugazi influenced lead vocalist Simon Neil. With many of Biffy Clyro's lyrics winging their way into being through Neil's erratic dreams and day-to-day skewed conversations, Biffy Clyro's tracks will never be short of a talking point or two, 'Machines' simply offers nothing but a pure unadulterated poetic quality.
