Dee Anderson - Make Me Smile

A cover of the Cockney Rebel track 'Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)' Dee Anderson's haunting acoustic version seems to fall some what short of the originals get up and go, swapping it's upbeat, energetic nature for a more sombre set. Beautifully orchestrated however and with sound musicianship, albeit with a little reverb in places, it's Anderson's vocals brimming with emotive quality and re-jigged tone and texture to the original that may put some people off. It's the Cockney Rebel's positive spin on the tracks hook line 'Come up and see me…' and chorus that made the track irresistible to punters.

Whilst showing ambitious and experimental aspirations this track is by no means the strongest showcase from debut album 'The White Rose' which has received rave reviews. Compared to Diana Krall and Katie Melua, it's a clear case of looking at the bigger picture with Anderson.
