Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion

In 2003, ironically, Karen-O and the other two "Yeahs" became renowned for writing songs with more balls than Elton John's Christmas tree. "Fever To Tell" was a perception of social-standing and class from the New York underground, and we loved it all the more for it. 3 years on, and the question is, would the combination of bold statements, big ideas and simple melody still have such a lasting impact? The answer is, of course, yes.

"Gold Lion" is the hit the music industry has been craving for the past 3 years. From the first strike of the Queen-esque drum intro, you immediately sense that something epic is about to take place. Cue a huge drum and guitar combination which blasts through your speakers like a Cuban missile. Top this experience off with Karen-O's unmistakeable cries of anguish and ecstasy, and you'll find yourself having been reduced to your knees.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have always been a band with something to say, and "Gold Lion" is proof that they know exactly how to say it. A blistering return to form.
