Red Organ Serpent Sound - In Search Of Orgazmus

ROSS sound like Gang of Four and Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies have been locked in a small room by Captain Beefheart and told that they are not out until they've created the most preposterous yet accessible piece of music they are capable of.

“In Search of Orgazmus” opens with an organ riff that sounds like a circusy version of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”. Two minutes in, after two choruses and what sounds like a verse are hurriedly dished out, Chris McConaghy starts slashing his guitar to pieces with a hunting knife (or at least that's what it sounds like) and Rory Moore starts chanting “S-S Serpent Sound, what is serpent sound?” about 125 times. The structure of the song, orbiting around its dual guitar solos, is so bizarre and mushy that it may well have been conceived by Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cookoo's nest.

Of all the countless bands currently fighting over the muddy ground between post-post punk and pre-post-rock Red Organ Serpent Sound are by far the best. Well worth checking out (or failing that you can try saying their name 15 times really quickly with a mouth full of museli)
