Jack Johnson - Hope

Rating: 2/5

Jack Johnson's 'Hope' is taken from his album 'Sleep Through The Static', which has apparently sold upwards of 200,000 copies in the UK. The single starts off with harmonies and plods along in a harmless enough way, but it's all a bit Aswad-lite. That the lyrics are utterly banal doesn't exactly help: 'We'll teach you to love what you're afraid of'. No doubt it's supposed to be uplifting, but I just found it all a bit nauseating, and not terribly interesting musically.
