The Sea - Don't You Want Me?
Ollie Cornish 08/09/2008
Rating: 3/5
The Sea are fiery little biscuits, their new single Don't You Want Me? is as visceral as they come combining a '70s punk attitude with a more modern production. The song brings to mind The White Stripes, The Stooges and The Hives; a combination bristling with musical nous, devil may care attitude and a vicious bite. Sadly The Sea don't quite match up to this esteemed company. The Sea give it their best shot; buzzsaw guitars, hectic vocals. Sadly it all comes off likeable but pretty standard.
Don't You Want Me is a cracking little song that happens to be as instantly forgettable as it is instantly loveable. This isn't going to change the world, it's going to give it a smack round the chops then disappear from whence it came before anybody notices.
