Dananananaykroyd - Black Wax

We here at GIITTV do like a bit of Danana. They are arguably one of the most promising acts in the business at the moment, and a surprising slot on the Kaiser's European outing earlier this year has done no end of good for these Glaswegian lads and lasses. With a debut album scheduled for release on April 6th, and a tour currently stretching from here until infinity, their pockets are laden with aces at the moment. However, new single 'Black Wax', I would argue, adds no fuel to their seemingly raging fire.

This first taste of new material from their forth-coming smash 'Hey Everyone', certainly takes a while to get going, and once it does, barely hits the anticipated watermark. To be perfectly honest, it's a tepid outing, and having had the benefit of hearing the band's long-player in full, a poor representation of the arsenal they've put to tape. Even when they're utilising now characteristic penchants such as choral-sing-a-longs, happy handclaps, and even the odd whistle or two, there is shockingly little that will embed this song into memory. All of this is a real shame, or at least would be if Danan hadn't given such a good account of themselves on their LP. Best hold out for that I'd say.
