Dan Black - Alone

'Wonky Pop' is something that seems to be taking 2009 by storm but what exactly is it? That's right kids, it's POP MUSIC IT'S OK TO LIKE. Because we all know pop music is bad and will hurt your alternative credentials. So, what to do if you fall in love with a pop song? Stick the word 'wonky' in there and suddenly you're cooler than a polar bear having an ice bath in Antarctica. Phew, bet you're glad someone came up with that idea eh?
As part of this ridiculous scene, you'd be forgiven for giving Dan Black a wide berth. But by doing so you would miss out on this storming synth-led electro-pop dancefloor filler and one of 2009's hottest singles thus far. Alone is a hit from start to finish with its pounding bassline and infectious lilting hook of “I was dreaming when I saw you”. No justifying prefixes needed here, Monsieur Black's new single is everything pop music should be - classy, fun and more contagious than a tropical disease.
