The Jessie Rose Trip - Forever and a Day

Jessie Rose had better prepare herself; the Amy Winehouse comparisons are going to be coming in thick and fast before she knows it. Better than being compared to Duffy, I suppose. Manchester's freshest songstress wears her influences on her sleeve (Northern Soul, 60s Motown, 30s/40s Jazz) on this, her debut single.

Forever and a Day is a blissful summer treat, all swinging calypso rhythms and Caribbean backing vocals. Sour Grapes is more of a funk number, showing Jessie and her band's versatility and wide-ranging interests and influences. It's just a shame that all young talent can't be as diverse and refreshing as this.
