In Case Of Fire - Enemies

The composition of a decent rock single is a simple process of alchemy. A riff is recycled, the corrosive vocalist will sound familiar, and influences are picked from obvious sources, everything is chucked in the pot and then mixed in the hope that shit may turn to gold. Rock by its very nature is limiting as much as it is timeless despite rock's multitude of sub genres, but adding copious doses of energy, passion, power and attitude can get around such limitations.

The Northern Irish three piece have enough fire and brimstone, the steamrolling drums and slashing riffery perfectly pair with Steven Robinson's vocals that hit the register of Cedric Bixler-Zavala during the peak years of At The Drive-In.

The polished production of Enemies doesn't take away any of the punch. In many ways this is an average rock song crafted in the familiar template made good, the band have mixed the right elements, and inexplicably it works. Sure you've heard everything before; you might even have a band performing a replica of this song at your local rock bar later tonight. The point is that In Case of Fire have gotten it right.

Undoubtedly this is not Ravel's 'Bolero' but it hits the spot, the musical equivalent of a shot of espresso.
