Delphic - Doubt

Delphic are going to be huge in 2010; at least that's what all the tips for 2010 lists tell us. So by default they will be, in a self-fulfilling prophecy kind of a way.

After their excellent single This Momentary I was ready to rejoice the ascent of Delphic in the new decade, with its clean euphoria - 90s clubland without the ridiculous smiley face and an added indie band depth. This song does the same thing: clattering hi-hats, ethereal synthesizers and ever so slightly U2 guitars; but in a much more po-faced way. The chorus is decidedly radio-friendly pop/rock and no amount of vocal re-sampling can hide that.

It's not bad. It's really not. It's just not fresh and exciting like This Momentary was. No doubt (ha!) it will push Delphic higher on their ascent to the top - it is likeable enough: but if this is a taste of things to come, I doubt they'll be around much beyond this year.
