In the age of David Gray and James Blunt, 'singer' and 'songwriter' are the dirtiest of words. Joseph Arthur is on a lone crusade to restore the reputation of the moody troubadour. Layers of dense guitar and gentle, detailed synths provide the canvas upon which he paints his masterpiece, a rollercoaster of a voice in the style of Jeff Buckley. Even Tho smoulders like embers, burning its way into the memory with a smokily melodic persistence.
