The Sounds - Something to Die For

Those pesky Scandinavians they seem to have an ear for a perfect pop song. Over the years ABBA, The Cardigans, The Wannadies and on occasion Roxette have consistently come up with pop crackers and this time its Sweden's own The Sounds.

The Sounds have been around for a while and even have the David Grohl seal of approval (he wears their T-Shirt in the Times like these video). The Sounds describe themselves as Swedish New Wave and given there perfect guitar pop predecessors this couldn't be nearer the truth.

Something to Die For is unashamedly a pop song with a 80's influenced keyboard line reminiscent of Steve Miller's Abracadabra and a catchy singable chorus. This, in my opinion is how pop music should sound. Fresh, memorable, happy and bouncy, its hard not to be pulled along by this hummable pop ditty.
