Justice vs Simian - We Are Your Friends

Some people say that DJ's and remixers don't really do much. But even if you buy the idea that the actual act of taking some vocals and putting a new beat under them doesn't actually require much skill in itself, there's something breathtaking about the knack of taking a relatively turgid minor indie hit and turning it into a dancefloor classic (for another example, see Fatboy Slim's reworking of Groove Armada's originally uninspiring 'I See You Baby'). Such is the case with this track, a reworking of Simian's 'Never Be Alone' by French outfit Justice, which has in various forms been blowing up dancefloors for quite some time now, and in this form looks set to do the same to charts and radios this summer. Simon Lord's vocals sound like they were never more at home than in their new, house-inspired, slightly Daft Punk-esque environment, punctuated by punchy synths and a squelching, active bass line. The chorus becomes unforgettable and the track is a simple, floorfilling delight.
