With so many bands churning out art-rock 'classics' en masse during the past year or so, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Bloc Party school of songwriting is getting a bit tired. Glaswegian band The Dykeenies, however, would beg to differ.
They write guitar riffs that “frazzle We Are Scientists” and use synth lines that Brandon Flowers himself could have written. Indeed, all of The Dykeenies influences are strikingly obvious.
But however much 'New Ideas' sounds like the first few tracks of Silent Alarm, there is no denying that it is a tune and a half, and 'Will it End Tonight' isn't bad either, picking up where We Are Scientists left off but taking the addictive pop hooks even further.

The Dykeenies infectious melodies and jerking rhythms guarantee that you'll be humming these songs all summer.
If they keep writing songs as catchy and fun as these, then it is only a matter of time before The Dykeenies become huge.
