Milburn - Cheshire Cat Smile

It seems that this year's music has done wonders for national pride; more so than what the England team have offered thus far anyway. Since the Arctic Monkeys made Sheffield cool again, every new band has just though “fug it, I'll sing with 'me accent.” Maybe not on the same scale as the golden age of industry, but quite the revolution all the same.

As you may have guessed, Milburn sing their songs with accents, and, like many before them, they have used it to make their sound original and delightful. They are a rougher version of those other four spotty lads from Sheffield, and new single “Cheshire Cat Smile” demonstrates this with skill and charm, all in around 2 minutes. Dirty guitars, catchy lyrics, what more do you people want?

Well, for those of you, like me, who have heard of these guys before, and have previewed the blinding demo version of this song, the dolled-up version of “Cheshire Cat Smile” may disappoint you somewhat. But that takes nothing away from the fact that this is a great, ballsy performance from the Milburn lads, so get it while it's hot.
