Perennial lo-fi underachievers, Alfie step the sound up a bit on this latest single, with impressive results. This, thankfully, doesn't mean they've smelled money and turned into Coldplay, it just means that they've learned how to write a great chorus. It's still nice and quirky but now comes with a massive opening riff and an altogether more focused sound. It also sounds like they've made it with real instruments, not pots, pans and wooden spoons like their earlier stuff sounds. Of course, their recent luck means that this great indie-pop song will never make it into the charts, but if their forthcoming album 'Crying At Teatime' is like this, it'll be worth buying.
