Live

Little Death, Three Trapped Tigers, Pens

Home.Under.Ground is a shiny new club night running every fourth Thursday of the month at the Buffalo Bar in Highbury and Islington, from the ashes of the basement club now taken over the slot

The Buffalo Bar is cosy venue located directly outside of the train station, music ranged from Fleetwood Mac, Gang of Four, Iggy and the Stooges, Bright Eyes and all manner of trendy/ classic tunes from the ages. Three is the magic number. Last weeks 'Rockfeedback Presents in association with Home.Under.ground' shenanigans played host to up and coming bands including Pens, Three Trapped Tigers and Little Death.

Pens are a three piece girl group, energetic and constantly swapping instruments from keyboard, drums and guitar/ vocals. Self taught the girls blend dirty DIY distorted guitar with basic stand up drum beats. Unfortunately live they aren't much of a spectacle, they seem shy and awkward like it's all a bit of an adolescent lark. However they're soon to embark on a UK tour with Waaves and have a stream of European dates which you can catch them on in order to mould your own perception of the ladies, I'd personally advise one to check out some of their songs on their Myspace which sounds a lot better.

Three Trapped Tigers are a talented trio with complex time signatures, the drummer was quite amazing, on the night they were as tight as a nun and managed to pull off a relatively flawless set.

Little Death are three beautiful people making some standard lo fi indie pop, succinct but to the point, much like my overview.

Home.Under.Ground proves another decent club night showcasing new and already established talent and the Buffalo Bar is a great venue for it, laid back, low lighting and scarlet walls which only add to the romantic atmosphere. So run your little feet along to the next edition on February 26th featuring Bolar Pear, Solid Gold and Swanton Bombs.
